BINAA, BINAA is a design and research studio founded by Burak Pekoglu, in 2012. Mushroom is a superstructure with its 50 meters spanning diameter and 18 meters of height, that becomes an urban umbrella in between the Petronas Towers and KLCC Building Lot 185 Development. The structure acts as a gateway for the KLCC Masterplan which is regarded as the commercial heart of the city of Kuala Lumpur.
The Mushroom is a light weight structure, which is segmented in steel diagrid (diagonal grid) leafs. The system works both in compression and tension, which is fixed to the ground in the center with a mega column and spread to the sides, to create an urban gesture and a grand public space.
