Alaçatı Steps
Alaçatı Steps is a staircase in Alaçatı, on the Çeşme peninsula, completed in 2012.
The design takes the volume a stair normally wastes and gives it work to do: the treads and the structure beneath them are resolved as a bookshelf, a vine rack and storage, so that a single element serves as circulation and as furniture at the same time.
It is the smallest kind of project the office takes on, and the one where the idea has nowhere to hide.
