Al - Halawany Sweets
Al-Halawany Sweets is a mixed-use building in Baghdad for one of the city's established confectioners — a business whose shops are part of the everyday life of districts like Al-Mansour, and whose production needed to be brought together with the way it presents itself.
The project combines manufacturing with the commercial and public faces of the company, so that the making of the product and the selling of it occupy the same building.
The facade is the centre of the design: large sculptural panels in perforated metal, curved into a continuous vertical wave and fabricated as bespoke elements, give a production building a civic front. Currently under construction.
