Sanmar HQ
The Sanmar headquarters stands inside the company's shipyard complex in Altınova, Yalova, on a rectangular site held between a main road with forest behind it and the waterfront on the other side. The 4,000 m² project covers the administration building, a separate security structure and the landscape between them.
The complex is ordered by a void rather than by a building. An open corridor of green space runs through the middle, with the large functional masses — production halls, dyehouse, warehouse and the headquarters itself — set along its sides. The four-storey office volume is stacked by degrees of privacy: changing rooms and showers at ground level, the cafeteria above, open offices on the second floor, and management offices and meeting rooms at the top.
A single facade is drawn across the administration and security buildings to read them as one piece of architecture. It is composed of glass and brick — brick chosen because it holds the industrial atmosphere of the shipyard while making it a warmer place to arrive at each morning.
