Set within the vibrant urban fabric of Bostancı, Istanbul, Waterway No 58 stands as a testament to structural articulation and spatial poetry. Designed by architect Burak Pekoğlu, founder of the international practice BINAA (Building Innovation Arts and Architecture), the project reimagines residential architecture through a bold, avant-garde lens. At its core, the design engages in a dynamic dialogue between material weight and sculptural form. The building’s envelope is defined by a meticulous selection of raw, natural stone—crafted to visually anchor the structure while interacting fluidly with the coastal light of the Marmara region. Rather than adhering to conventional monolithic facades, BINAA executed a layered, tactile exterior where deep cutouts and geometric shifts evoke an organic rhythm, reminiscent of natural water-carved topographies. Waterway No 58 is far from a standard urban dwelling; it is an extraordinary architectural intervention. By merging local stone craftsmanship with sophisticated, contemporary computational design, the project offers an immersive living experience that feels both rooted in its Mediterranean geography and decidedly forward-looking.
